Victorian requirements: Transport Victoria roadworthy guide ↗

How much is a motorcycle or scooter roadworthy in Moorabbin?

At Brighton Service Centre, an eligible motorcycle or scooter roadworthy inspection is $198 including GST. This includes one recheck within 14 days. If the vehicle has drum brakes, the additional dismantling charge is $100 including GST, bringing the total to $298. This is an unbiased inspection only; we do not carry out bike or scooter repairs. A pass is not guaranteed.

Do you inspect modified motorcycles or scooters?

No. This service is for unmodified, stock-standard petrol road motorcycles and scooters. Aftermarket exhausts, changed lighting, handlebars, suspension, engine or frame can affect eligibility. If you are unsure, contact the workshop before requesting a drop-off.

Why is there an extra charge for motorcycle drum brakes?

Drum brakes need dismantling for inspection. Motorcycles and scooters with drum brakes have an additional $100 charge including GST, making the total inspection fee $298 including GST. Tell us about drum brakes in your enquiry, or select “I’m not sure” so the workshop can check.

Can I bring an unregistered motorcycle or scooter?

Eligible unregistered motorcycles and scooters can be inspected. Arrange lawful transport and confirm any permit and road-test requirements with the tester first. An inspection booking does not make it legal to ride an unregistered vehicle on public roads.

Where is Brighton Service Centre?

Our workshop is at Factory 2 / 12 Joel Court, Moorabbin VIC 3189. Inspections are carried out at the workshop. Call 03 9592 3681 if you need directions or want to discuss your vehicle before enquiring.

When do I need a roadworthy certificate in Victoria?

A roadworthy certificate is generally needed when selling or re-registering a vehicle, or clearing certain defect notices. Exemptions can apply. Check the current requirements with VicRoads or Transport Victoria for your transaction. A roadworthy inspection is a safety inspection, not a comprehensive mechanical condition report.

What drop-off times can I request?

Choose a Tuesday–Friday drop-off at 8 am, 10 am, 12 pm or 5 pm. Early and evening drop-offs are by confirmed arrangement. A 5 pm drop-off is for inspection the next workshop day, excluding closed days. All requests need workshop confirmation. Inspections usually take 2–3 hours; rechecks or issues found may take longer. Wait for our confirmation by WhatsApp or email before bringing your vehicle in.

What happens if my vehicle fails the inspection?

You receive a report identifying the items that need attention. We carry out unbiased roadworthy inspections and do not repair motorcycles or scooters. You can choose your own repairer. The vehicle needs to be rechecked within 14 days, otherwise a new full inspection is required. Our motorcycle and scooter price includes one recheck within 14 days.

How long is a Victorian roadworthy certificate valid?

A Victorian roadworthy certificate is current for 30 days from issue. It reflects the vehicle’s condition at the inspection and does not guarantee future condition or mechanical reliability.

Can I pay cash or card?

Yes. Pay by cash or card at the workshop and receive a receipt. No online payment is required when you send an enquiry. We do not carry out bike or scooter repairs. Choose your own repairer if work is needed.

Do you offer trade pricing for multiple vehicles?

Trade pricing is available for multiple eligible motorcycles or scooters. Contact the workshop with the vehicle types, quantities and timing for a quote.

What documents should I bring to the inspection?

Bring your driver licence so we can sight it in person for every inspection. If the vehicle is not currently registered in Victoria, including if it is unregistered, also bring paperwork showing you own it.

What details should I include in my enquiry?

Tell us your name, mobile number, email address, vehicle type, make, model and year, and preferred drop-off day and time. We’ll ask a few questions to check the vehicle is eligible. Bring the presenting person’s driver licence to the inspection; if the vehicle is not registered in Victoria, bring proof of ownership too.

Can I book ahead or request an inspection for today?

Yes. Request an upcoming Tuesday–Friday drop-off at 8 am, 10 am, 12 pm or 5 pm. Early and evening drop-offs are by confirmed arrangement; 5 pm is for inspection the next workshop day. Same-day requests are subject to availability. Wait for workshop confirmation before bringing your vehicle in. Drop-offs are not available on Mondays or weekends.

When will my vehicle be ready for collection?

Inspection work usually takes 2–3 hours, but this is an estimate. Early drop-off does not mean an 8 am inspection start; 5 pm drop-offs are for inspection the next workshop day. We’ll agree an estimated collection time when confirming your booking. Drop-off time is not the inspection start time. We’ll message you by WhatsApp or email when your vehicle is ready, including if it is ready earlier, and contact you if the estimate changes. Please wait for that message before collecting. Any repairs must be arranged with your chosen repairer before a recheck.

What if I need to change or cancel my drop-off?

Please give at least 24 hours’ notice where possible. If you need to change your appointment sooner, call 03 9592 3681. No online payment is taken when you enquire.
